At times in life, we can all need some extra support. This can be for yourself or a family member. There is no shame in asking for some help. In Edinburgh, we have a great social care team run by the council who can help with support for falls prevention, social care advice as well as social support and assessments. This can include assessments for your home to help adapt your surroundings and adding gadgets such as alarms, handrails etc to make living independently safer and more comfortable.
Equally, you can gain help with personal care, meals, or some support in the way of rest bite for you or your carer. They can also advise on different housing options such as supported living or care homes.
Please contact Social Care Direct on 0131 200 2324 or you can refer online here.
Here is a useful website explaining what a care assessment is and what it entails. The assessment is free and provided by the NHS and a financial assessment will be carried out if any care is required.
